19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his maiden title since the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.
Success also means he has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to wonder if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He defended 4 early break points in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
